Tenancy Deposit Scheme
Your deposit is protected with mydeposits, an approved tenancy deposit protection scheme authorised in Northern Ireland.
Tenancy deposit protection became a legal requirement in Northern Ireland on 1 April 2013 under The Tenancy Deposit Schemes Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012. RDB Lettings protects all deposits with mydeposits, one of the government-approved schemes operating in Northern Ireland.
How does mydeposits protect my deposit?
Once you pay your deposit, we register it with mydeposits within 14 days. You will receive Prescribed Information confirming the registration details, the scheme rules, and how to raise a dispute at the end of your tenancy. mydeposits provides a free, independent dispute resolution service if you and your landlord cannot agree on deductions.
What must the deposit holder do?
Under the Regulations, the deposit holder must:
- Register the deposit with an approved scheme (mydeposits) within 14 days of receiving it
- Serve Prescribed Information on the tenant(s) confirming the deposit is protected

Which deposits must be protected?
Any tenancy deposit paid on or after 1 April 2013 for a private tenancy must be protected with an approved scheme.
Private tenancies not covered include:
- A fee farm grant
- A tenancy exceeding 99 years (unless terminable by notice)
- Holiday tenancies
- Tenancies under which the landlord's estate belongs to a government department or is held in trust for a government department
